Wake up early—or stay up extra late—before heading out on this adventurer's trek to capture sunrise views from Caldera of Mount Batur. Follow an experienced guide on starlit trails, watch the island flood with the first golden rays of sun, and then rest your legs at a nearby hot spring.
Get picked up by your guide when some revelers are just going to bed, and head to Songan Village on shore side of Batur Lake where the boat waitting for you. 15 minutes crossing by boat on Batur Lake and head to Pulak valley. Then flick on a flashlight, lace up your hiking boots, and enjoy the quick trek up to Batur Caldera. it is called alternative trek for Mount Batur Volcano, private hike, less crowded and not known by many tourists, where you can settle in for a light breakfast while you watch the horizon begin to lighten.
Spend a few hours at this lofty vantage point, capturing photos of a sky-saturating Indonesian sunrise as it sweeps over the island's thick carpet of forests, dotted with gem-like lakes that reflect each golden ray. Head back down when your memory card is full, and catch a boat ride across the calm waters of Lake Batur to reach Dewi Danu Statue and last go to Batur Natural Hot Spring warmed by the geothermal vents of Mount Batur's lava-lined core.
Soak in these steamy pools while you watch fishermen cast their lines into Lake Batur, and then hop out to start your return journey to your hotel. On the way back, swing by a local coffee plantation for extravagant sips of one of the world's priciest coffees. Made from beans digested by wild Asian palm civets, coffee luwak is sure to pique your curiosity and your caffeine levels.
